Meet Calvin Martin, a dedicated and experienced personal trainer with a unique background in coaching and caregiving. Born and raised in Amsterdam, a small city in upstate New York, Calvin developed a deep passion for sports from a young age, playing various sports year-round. After serving four years at Equinox, he ventured into entrepreneurship and started his own private business in 2018. Since then, Calvin’s business has grown extensively, and he has helped countless clients achieve their fitness goals.

Before entering the coaching field, Calvin worked as a teacher’s aide for emotionally disturbed and autistic boys at St. Colman’s Institute. He then transitioned to a full-time position at Liberty ARC, where he provided in-house aid to individuals with disabilities. While working with the agency, Calvin pursued a modeling career in New York City during his off-hours, which inspired him to prioritize fitness and a healthy lifestyle.

Calvin’s passion for coaching and mentoring led him to take on the role of a strength and conditioning coach for student athletes at his former high school. It was those two years that propelled him to move to New York City and begin his personal training career at Equinox Wall Street. With his diverse background and expertise, Calvin is committed to helping his clients achieve their fitness goals and improve their overall health and well-being.

Education

Calvin has had the privilege of learning from some of the most respected names in the fitness industry throughout their 13-year career. He has received mentorship and guidance from experts such as Richie Altieri and has completed certifications with Mike Boyle, John BerardiKassem Hanson, and Dr. Andreo Spina.

In addition to learning from these esteemed professionals, Calvin has obtained a range of certifications that has allowed him to expand his knowledge and expertise. He holds certifications in Precision Nutrition Level 1, Certified Functional Strength Coach, Functional Range Conditioning Level 1, N1 Education, and Kettlebell training. These certifications have equipped Calvin with the skills and knowledge to help clients achieve their fitness goals and improve their overall health and well-being.

Competitions/Events

  • In 2014, Calvin Martin participated in the Strongman Lift for Autism event, using his strength to raise awareness and funds for individuals with autism.
  • In 2015, Calvin competed in the New England Strongman Competition, showcasing his physical abilities and dedication to the sport.
  • In 2020, Calvin took part in the NY’s Strongest Man Westchester competition, pushing his limits and testing his strength against other top athletes in the region.
  • As a testament to his endurance and commitment to fitness, Calvin Martin ran the NYC Marathon’s 50th anniversary in 2021, challenging himself both physically and mentally to achieve this significant personal accomplishment.
